As another sailing season nears, it’s important to remember volunteers have always been the cornerstone of our club and its events. We’re known throughout the scow sailing world as a superior host, as we have always worked to showcase our club and make our visitors feel welcome. In this continuing effort, we are always looking for people to be involved with our committees, social events and judging. If you are:

Interested in judging – please email Paul Price at pprice5@wi.rr.com

Interested in a social event – please email Chris Price at chrisprice1011@gmail.com

Interested in working at a regatta – please email Nickie Kurfis at nicole.prodoehl@rakuten.com

Interested in another area – please email me at jeffnlyc@gmail.com

(You’ll find a listing of the current committees in the yearbook.)

This year we will be hosting five regattas:

June 24-25 – the Wisconsin MC Championship

July 6-7 – the X Quad Lakes

July 24 – the Opti No Tears

August 4-6 - the C WYA

Octoberfest - TBA

Please check your calendars and let us know if you’re available to volunteer at these regattas. Even if you’ve never been involved in an event, please consider volunteering as it’s a great way of getting to know people, both inside and outside our club. You will be gently guided every step along the way as you become familiar with the process.

At the end of last year we sent out a survey that listed work committees to address social, membership, sailing school, race and regatta, bar, community relations and long range planning needs. If you sent in the survey last year we will be contacting you. If you did not fill out the survey, please contact me and we can discuss areas you may be interested in helping with. Teamwork is what makes NLYC function at its best.

Watch for Evites to social events that are coming up. Also, the membership committee is going to experiment with interest forums on our website. This is another way for information to get to members. Attached are the steps showing how to sign up to get information about the areas in which you and your family have interest.

New this year is the renovation of the south end of the club. Wait until you see it! It should be completed in spring so that we can accommodate the growth of our sailing fleets and service our regatta attendees better. I’d like to extend a special “Thank you!” to the many members who have planned and worked on the project. It’s been a long time coming.

When you log into the website to renew your membership, please check your profile and update address, phone and email. This information is used in our yearbook.

The NLYC Board and its committees have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming sailing season and are very much looking forward to all the fun and excitement it brings. We look forward to working alongside all of you as we make the 2017 season a success. Thanks again to all of you for your work on behalf of the Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club.
