Nagawicka Hosts MC Lake Country Challenge

Saturday, June 23rd Nagawicka hosted the 3rd annual MC Lake Country Challenge Regatta.  Lakes included in the regatta are Beaver, Nagawicka, North, Oconomowoc, Okauchee, and Pine.  Twenty nine competitors showed up ready to sail.  They were treated to a great breakfast thanks to Alison Lux and Peter Maslowski.  After the skippers meeting, the race committee headed to the water in search of some wind.  Unfortunately, there was none to be found, so the racing was postponed until after lunch.  The Judges did their best to get a race in for the afternoon and sent the sailors out in light and streaky winds.  They were able to get one race off. The winner was Bruce Gallagher from Pine Lake, second place finisher was Scott Stetter of Okauchee and third was Michele Heinze followed by Tim Cleary both from Nagawicka.  After racing sailors were treated to lots of appetizers and drinks donated by the MC fleet and NLYC members.  A special thanks to the Tegeders for donating most of the beer!

Joining Team Nagawicka from New Jersey was MaryKay Hajinian's brother, David Ebel who placed 9th and helped Nagawicka to place second in the team awards.

Hand-crafted trophies were designed by Craig Heinze and presented by Commodore, Dick Milaeger.
